During a speech in 1935 at the Reichstag, Adolf Hitler said “He alone who owns the youth, gains the future.”  This quote illustrates the emphasis Hitler placed on the recruitment of children in to the Nazi party.  For the Third Reich to last German youths needed to learn and agree with Nazi ideals.  To help facilitate the indoctrination Hitler formed the group Hitler Jugend where these ideals were pressed upon the children.  Extensive use of propaganda helped persuade the children to join this new and exciting program.   The propaganda tactics included posters of young boys posed and poised to become future Nazi officers, cult songs and poems idolizing the Führer, as well as Nazi films.  Controlling German children’s educations was deemed the key for Nazis to control Germany for generations to come.  They found a successful means to this end in the Hitler Youth programs.
